The background of the market research project
The FOREST Project is a five-year, $20 million initiative in Eastern Russia, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The primary purpose is to improve management of the Russian forest resource. They seek to accomplish this partly by assisting the Russian companies in improving trade in forest products with other countries, and by helping to strengthen the wood products associations in various regions, including Sakhalin, Primorsky, Kharbarovsk, Irkutsk, and Krasnoyarsk.

The meaning of the FOREST Project: FOrest RESources and Technology Project, in the name, the word FOREST is all capital letters, to distinguish it from the normal word forest, which refers to the trees.
