Tianjin
Port is a traditional seaport in northern China. We visited the railroad
timber market, visited the port to learn how many timber will go through
this place. Also we had met with the official of Tianjin Free Trade
Zone, learned the advantage of Tianjin port in wood trade field and
favorable policy support by local government.
On
the eve of the entry into WTO and with demands in creased for Imported
Timbers as a great policy on developing the west of China, Tianjin
Free Trade Zone International Timber Exchange Market is officially
operated in January, 2001, with approval of Tianjin People's Government
and management of Tianjin Commission of Free Trade Zone.
The market built
in the seaport only several hundred meters from the Tianjin-port duck
berth. At present, the market of Tianjin-port Free Trade Zone is the
only international timber trade market in China that processes the
character of free trade, enjoying the functions of trade, bonded store
and bonded processing, and building a complete international commodity
transaction service system and ability to ship-railway combined
transport. The area of the market is about 1 million m2
and the utilized area of the first phase is about 160 thousand
m2(building area of trade center about 3,000 m2, area of
store about 7,000 m2, area of container yard about 90,000
m2 area of bulk yard about 60,000 m2). The railway siding
and first-class loading facilities in the market and well
built.
