PREFACE

Since 1980s, China wood flooring industry has experienced about four phases shown in below table. Meanwhile, the export amount grew rapidly. Take the United States, the major export target as an example, the import value of Chinese wood flooring products rose to USD$41 millions in 2003 from less than USD$ 6 million in 1998. Moreover in the first half year of 2004 alone, the import value was USD$ 37 million, increasing by 141% year on year.

Main exporting area of wood flooring products in China has been basically stable till 2005, which is ranked by its activeness (see chart below) as area A (yellow & green) – Northeast China, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai and Guangdong; area B (red) – Beijing, Tianjin, Fujian and Yunnan; area C (dark) – Hebei and Shandong province; area D (purple) – Henan, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangxi, Sichuan and Chongqing.
