According to the statistics released by Peru Exports Association, from January to July in 2008, Perus exporting vlume of timber increased by 10% with a turnover of $ 0.137 billion. In July, due to the global economic crisis, the volume of Peru timber exported to U.S and Central American areas decreased, while the volume exported to Chinasteadily grew and 46.5% of its lumber were aheaded to China.
Perus timber is mainly exported to Mexico (52.2%), U.S.(25.4%) and China(10.6%). Semi-manufactured produtcs are all exported to China with an exporting value of $ 40.01 million which increased by 27.8% compared with the same period of last year.
