In the forth quarter of 2008, Chinas exports of flooring was badly affected by the global financial crisis. At the same time, along with the depression of the domestic real estate industry, the turnover shrank and domestic distribution showed slackness. It is for the first time in the year of 2008 after 12-years continuous growth that the distribution of wooden flooring enterprises was registered a drop.
According to the statistics from Flooring Expertise Committee affiliated to China National Forest Product Industry Association (CNFPIA), the distribution volume of Chinas flooring enterprises was 0.344 billion m2 in 2008, dropping 4.8% over last year. Among it, the volume of laminated wooden flooring was 0.198 billion m2 dropping 10%; solid wood flooring was 42 million m2 dropping 4.5%; engineered solid wood flooring was 78 million m2 increasing 4%; bamboo & wooden flooring was 24 million m2 increasing 20%; others were 1.8 million m2 decreasing 10%.
